Intro to Letterpress / Thank You Card Workshop. Saturday, April 10th, 10AM - 2PM & 3PM - 7PM

Come join us for a beginning letterpress thank you card class this month!

We will teach you the basics of letterpress printing, and help you to print your own set of 25 of our Merci Beaucoup (French Bulldog) cards. We will also show you how to make envelope liners out of beautiful patterned gift wrap. These add a lovely finishing touch to the cards, and help you remain productive while others are taking their turn on the press. All that in just one Saturday morning or afternoon! (The class will be limited to 10 students and there will be 2 instructors, so you will be sure to get plenty of personal attention.)

At the end of the class, you will have learned the letterpress printing basics, and you will walk away with a set of 25 letterpress cards with matching envelopes and liners. All this for less than it would cost to normally purchase the cards (without liners, and without enviable letterpress skills!) In addition, our entire line of Sycamore Street Press goods will also be on sale that day only for 25% off to class participants.

We Heart Teaching

When I taught intro level art classes at the university, there were always some students there just because they needed the credits. A couple of them even asked me if they could leave class early so they could watch a TV show. What!?

Not so with the letterpress workshops we teach here in the Sycamore Street Press studio. Our students are enthusiastic and eager to learn. They're here because they want to be. And I think it's a great change of pace for everyone -- me and Kirk included. We have so much fun!

A very big thank you to all our students. We hope to keep these classes going for a long, long time.

Kirk and I had a great time at our Intro to Letterpress/Holiday Card classes last Saturday, and from what I could tell, our students did as well! Thanks to everyone who came -- it was wonderful meeting you all!

We are already planning some new workshops (the first ones coming up will be for making valentines). Stay tuned for more info...

Beginning Letterpress Class: Holiday/Christmas cards: November 14th, 2009

Have you ever wondered how a letterpress actually makes that beautiful impression in paper? Are you also in need of some pretty Christmas/Holiday cards to send out this year? Are you looking for a fun activity to experience with a friend, sister, husband, etc...? If any of these apply to you, then please come join us for a festive holiday letterpress class!

We will teach you the basics of letterpress printing, and help you to print your own set of 50 Christmas/Holiday cards. We will also show you how to make envelope liners, which add a lovely finishing touch to the cards. All that in just one Saturday afternoon! (The class will be limited to 10 students and there will be 2 instructors, so you will be sure to get plenty of personal attention.)

At the end of the class, you will have learned the letterpress printing basics, and you will walk away with a set of 50 letterpress cards with matching envelopes and liners. We will be taking a vote to see which card will be printed: "Season's Greetings" (with pine cones and branches) or "Merry Christmas" with Scandinavian folk flowers. If there is enough interest, we may even add a second section of the class to our schedule.
